SOCIODRAMA AND COMUNITY WORK: “Between Violence and Hope: how shall we survive?”

Jorge Burmeister and Natacha Navarro

(Workshop 9.30 - 13.00)

The workshop facilitates action techniques for community work at large demonstrating the connectedness between the construction of individual and social reality. It is committed to the tasks of conflict resolution and peace work while the conductors will share their experience on the subject. The workshop focuses primarily on community/cultural bonded scenes of violence and hope. These scenes will be staged in a specific format including sociodrama, mitodrama, playback and theatre of the oppressed techniques. The scenic exposure stimulates the audience/the community suggesting to become “creators” of their own community live. The last exhibition of this technique was attended by 400 persons in Bergama/Turkey in june 2007.

SOCIODRAMA AND COLECTIVE TRAUMA

Peter Felix Kellermann

(Workshop 14.30 - 18.00)

Time does not heal all wounds: decades after a disaster, entire communities may still experience the long-term effects of trauma. This workshop will examine the Psychological and Social damage of trauma to society as a whole. We will explore ways in the rehabilitation of survivors of collective trauma through, for example, Sociodrama and related group work. In trying to understanding the past, we are also preparing for the future. This workshop is based on a new book on Sociodrama and Collective Trauma and on over 30 years experience of treating survivors of war trauma and other forms of disaster from all over the world.
